Day 11 – Callum's Birthday = Coober Pedy to Agnes Creek Reserve
Today was Callum's birthday and although we had some early celebrating yesterday we did surprise him with some presents this morning...he was surprised!!
Compared to yesterday, today was very uneventful as far as sight seeing goes. We struggled out of bed quite late and packed up the camp site. It is amazing how tired travelling can make you!!! Today we were headed to as close to the Northern Territory border as we could get. We make to Agnes Creek Reserve about halfway between Coober Pedy and the border. Once again the kids travelled well and we made it to the camp spot for the night.
The biggest ongoing cost for us at the moment is petrol. At William Creek yesterday we paid $1.99 per litre and today at a Roadhouse at Marla it was $1.90 per litre. Almost feels like we are travelling from one service station to the next!!
We have though developed a new but rather gross game to play in the car – called “get the fly”, the kids and I have almost perfected the killing of flies but Pete is yet to master driving whilst swatting the smallest flies away from his head. The sunrises and sunsets would keep me in Central Australia forever they are beautiful and vibrant but honestly the flies will drive us away!!
Tomorrow should see us one day closer to Uluru!!
When we set up camp for the first time we set up the thunder box!! Unfortunately at about 7.30pm we were joined by other campers so I’m not sure that it will get used in the morning!!
