Day 24 – 16/4/2011 - Alice Springs
Well we didn’t quite get the quiet night we had anticipated!! Melinda’s house has a laneway beside it and it gets a lot of foot traffic late in the evening, this was OK until about 12:30am when the temptation was just too strong and someone decided to jump on the back of the van!! Unreal I got the fright of my life, but I think the person who jumped on the van got an even bigger shock because Pete sat up in bed and yelled at them and then sprung out of the van to tell them to get off……they were though long gone!! It took a little while for my racing heart to settle down so that we could go back to sleep.
Today then luckily was very quiet because Pete and I were a little tired from our unsettled night. The kids had fun playing with Melinda’s daughter Jocelyn and the boys especially enjoyed Melinda’s husband PJ’s - PS2!! They swam and really enjoyed the spa!! No complaints today about the accommodation!!
We spent some time this morning doing the boring mundane things like food shopping, clothes washing and then resting!! We did manage to drop into the Alice Springs Information Centre and get some sightseeing ideas for next week and Pete went on a motorbike ride (PJ just happened to have a motorbike hidden out the back that Pete took for a spin) but for the rest of the day the kids just played and the adults just hung about and chatted.
Late in the afternoon I went with Melinda to check on her horse’s – she has two one for her and one for Jocelyn. There won’t be any opportunity to ride though because Melinda’s horse has a chest flesh wound and has been out spelling for a few weeks and Jocelyn’s horse is only 12h, but it was good to just hang out with the horses for a while.
A fabulous day was had by all.
