Day 75 06/06/2011 Broome sightseeing (Cape Leveque)
View from our morning tea table.
Another big day of driving although on the map it said there was only 86kms of dirt road, yippee we said that’s nothing…..I can assure you that at the end of the 90 odd kilometres we were so grateful that the road had ended!! I think we are all getting a little tired of bouncy dirt roads.  Again I had one of those rare moments when I thought the distance being driven might not be negated by the beauty of the destination!!  I was worried because Pete and the kids had a look on their faces that said “this had better be worth it!!”
Thankfully Cape Leveque is one of the most beautiful places we have been this holiday, the sky was clear blue and the ocean sparkly blue, and the sand stunningly white.  We booked in for the day at the office and headed straight to the beach for the day!!

The beach we swam out..water was awesome.

We spent a marvellous 4 ½ hours on the beach, swimming and snorkelling, luckily we brought lunch and lots of snack.  The day was so perfect even Pete swam, lots of times!!
There were a couple of women fishing up near where we were advised to snorkel, there wasn’t a great deal of fish life to see but we didn’t have the heart to tell the ladies that they were wasting their time throwing their line in.
I have also not been able to convince the kids that you don’t talk through their snorkels, whilst sitting on the beach watching the kids snorkel all I can hear is them talking to each other and squealing!!  This is going to make the snorkelling with the whale sharks very interesting and noisy!!

Practising with my new camera!!

It was with a great deal of difficulty that I dragged the boys out of the ocean at 2:30pm!! We arrived back at the caravan safe and sound, just a little shaken from the bumpy road, the kids were tired and happy and I must admit we too were in bed early!!

  1. That beach is to die for. Very jealous - it was 12 degrees here for most of the day!
