Day 123 24/07/2011 Bunbury (sightseeing)
It was with great excitement that we bounded out of bed this morning because Danni and Steve were taking us to “Gnomesville”.
As far as the eye could see there were gnomes!! |
They would not elaborate on what we would see or do there but said we would have a great time. So we packed the two cars and headed out. The drive took us through gorgeous countryside, full dams, lush green pasture and wineries!! I couldn’t work out if we were in dairy country, beef country, horse country, sheep country or wineries because we saw everything!!
Then out of nowhere we stopped and had arrived in Gnomesville!! Ha ha ha, Pete took one look around and declared “we travelled for 40kms for that!!” That being over 1000 garden gnomes all lined up on the side of the road!! Pete couldn’t believe it – “Welcome to Gnomesville” the sign said.
And more gnomes!! |
What a funny sight 1000’s of garden gnomes with people’s names and towns written on them. There were family groupings, single gnomes, school groups and every other group you could imagine, even “grey Gnomads”. I’m not sure at any time that Pete was impressed with the gnome display!! I can only say that Gnomesville was an experience and one that should not be missed if you are visiting Bunbury.
After Gnomesville we headed to Donnybrook to a fabulous community park where the five kids played for hours and we relaxed enjoying the lovely winters day.
And gnomes hiding!! |
After dinner the kids settled back playing Barricade and the adults had a fabulous night playing cards – loudly!!.
Well I hope that you contributed a family of five gnomes to this gnome community??
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that Pete didn't manage to see an opportunity to start a similar community on the nsw south coast - after all he would make a great care-taker ..... or would he???? Mmmm maybe not.
