Day 41 03/05/2011 Alice Springs to Gemtree

Well it was time to leave Alice Springs, it was with fond memories that we headed away from Melinda and PJ’s and we certainly appreciated their support and friendship over the past few weeks.

Before we left though we needed to all have a haircut and buy new hats!! Once this task was completed and we were all looking less woolly we headed down the road to Gemtree Caravan Park. Gemtree is about 70kms off the Stuart Highway and it is only a caravan park, no town or any other building, not even a pub!!  It was an easy drive and we arrived not long after lunch.  On arrival we booked ourselves into a fossicking tour tomorrow. 

The only other thing left to do before beer o’clock was to collect some firewood for our fire.  Once again we gave the kids the lecture about fires being hot.  I think this time they might have listened!!
