Day 90 21/06/2011 Coral Bay

Day 90 21/06/2011 Coral Bay
There really is only one way to describer today….lazy….we did very little.  I did give some thought to getting the kids to do some school work but since they were all off playing happily I really didn’t want to disturb them!!
About mid-morning though we did put plan A from yesterday into action and with lunch packed, snorkels and masks packed and of course wetsuits in we headed off to find Five Fingers Reef.  The instructions we had were “take the first right, then the first left, then head over the sand dunes!!” Those instructions would have been great if there was only one sand dune, but alas there were lots so with very soft tires we headed off over the sand dunes!!  After about 20 minutes Pete and I climbed a sand dune and flagged down some quad bike riders who assured us that we “just had to ‘drive over the sand dune’ and we would be there!!”  This time they were right, we had found the five reefs that jut out from the shore that from the air look like five fingers!!  Unfortunately the wind had picked up around this side of the point and the bays were very surgy and there were some small waves breaking so we decided that we wouldn’t snorkel here at all.  The kids were okay with the decision, the three of them looked a little apprehensive about getting in the water!! Unfortunately I took to close a look at the water and got knocked over by a strong wave and landed on the rocks grazing my hip, arm and foot!!  I was more surprised than hurt, I had been squatting at the time that the wave hit me looking at a star fish so I wasn’t very stable.  Pete and the kids were in the car just watching – astonished.
As we already had lunch packed we headed back to the bay and enjoyed a very lazy afternoon on the beach, swimming, snorkelling and eating.  No photos as I had forgotten the camera!!
