Day 108 09/07/2011 Coronation Beach (exploring Geraldton)

Day 108 09/07/2011 Coronation Beach (exploring Geraldton)
Today we had a plan, well at least I did, I wanted to get up at a normal time, around 7am and then head into Geraldton for the farmers markets, then to the Western Australia Museum, getting back to the caravan around lunchtime!!  That was my plan and it was fraught with holes.  Firstly I couldn’t get Pete and the kids out of bed, they kept complaining about the cold, unfortunately the caravan of peace, love and happiness is like an ice box in the morning, thus it is hard for everyone to give up their warm beds. Eventually everyone was up and we were able to head into Geraldton for the markets.
There is something really great about being able to buy produce straight from the grower and we had a great time choosing our fruit and vegies, oh that was Pete and I.  The kids abandoned us as soon as they saw the park!!  They had a great time playing!!
After wandering the markets we headed for a few Op shops as we were hoping to pick up some beanies and a couple of extra jumpers.  I so wish I had checked on the weather predictions for the west coast this time of year, if I had I might have known just how cold it got!! Oh well it makes for a fun shopping trip through Op shops!!   We were able to outfit the boys in some “interesting” head gear!!
Off to the Western Australian Museum where the kids had a great time completing some information sheets on mining in the local area.  There were lots of interesting exhibits in the Museum and we had a great time exploring them. Whilst we were at the museum I got a call from a local jeweller where I had left my new ring to get resized, telling me it was ready to be picked up, YIPPEE so before heading back to the van we detoured to the Jeweller’s and I picked up my ring and it is now proudly on display on my hand!!
We headed back to the van for lunch and I spent a relaxing afternoon doing some of my long stitch, Pete slept, Zac fished and Claudia and Callum played.  Callum is very disappointed that I didn’t get him a long stich, he spent about an hour watching me do mine….
Once again a very relaxing and well, incredibly lazy day….We are in no hurry to leave Geraldton / Coronation Beach as the weather, whilst a little cold and windy is better that the weather people are experiencing further South and much, much better than the weather that our friends and family are experiencing at home!!
