Day 117 18/07/2011 Leeming (sightseeing around Perth)
Today we went sightseeing around Perth. We left Marie’s armed with instructions on how and where to catch the bus to the train and then the train into the city. We got to the train station without a problem and our train came on time. As we were whizzing past the stations Pete randomly asked “who has the backpack?” I looked blankly at him as he was responsible for the backpack, it was at that precise moment that we realised that we had left the backpack on the station platform!! Well on the upside at least it wasn’t one of the children!! We quickly jumped off the train and caught one back to our original platform and luckily for us, our backpack had been handed in!! Nothing missing and we could start the adventure all over again.

On the second try we made it into the city safely.
Almost immediately after we left Perth Station the kids found another street performer and plonked themselves down to watch. This performance went for nearly an hour and he was very funny, we all giggled very hard!!
Once we managed to drag the kids away it was off to the Museum of Perth. This was a great place to visit and a very hands on Museum. At the end we found the AC/DC display where Pete and I promptly plonked ourselves down and watched an old concert. We were enjoying our trip down memory lane and enjoying the music. The kids though tore through the display, listened to a few songs and then decided it was time to go!!! Obviously they weren’t enjoying the display as much as us.
As we left the museum it occurred to us that it was late afternoon and we hadn’t eaten lunch, so we got lunch, jumped on a free bus and headed to Kings Park. Kings Park has a moving War Memorial, beautiful Botanic gardens and amazing views over the Swan River and Perth City. It was a great place to have a late lunch although the kids mumble profusely as they had to walk up a very steep stair case to the main part of the part before they could eat.
Once we had eaten we headed off to catch another free bus back to the city and then the train home. We arrived home safely, one husband, three children and a back pack!!.
Perth was surprisingly easy to navigate around, public transport was surprisingly very cheap and in the city there are three free bus services that covered all of the city and everywhere we needed to go, we had a great day.
